Driving Home

I take the long way home

With the windows down

So I can look at the lights of the city

And listen to one more song

I sing loudly to the radio

And wonder who else is doing the same thing

I think about the people I love

And wonder if they're thinking of me too

I'm so glad for the people who think I can help

I'm grateful for someone to sit with so I'm not alone

And someday there will be someone in the passenger's seat

With their hand out the window

Watching the lights go by as we cross the river

Singing their favorite song

At the top of their lungs

And maybe I'll drive around the block

Just a couple more times

So we can finish the song

Before we go home
